Our Story
bySIMMED was founded in late 2019, born from a real need identified by Dr. Carlos Chávez, an endoscopic surgeon at Hospital Dr. Gustavo Fricke (HGF) in Viña del Mar.
In 2018, while implementing a complex endoscopic technique (ERCP), Dr. Chávez created a comprehensive training program that included both theoretical and hands-on workshops using models he developed himself. This led to the creation of the first phantom: a model replicating anatomical structures such as the gastric antrum, pylorus, duodenum, and biliary ducts.
Thanks to this model, the hospital’s endoscopy team was successfully trained, enabling over 500 procedures to be performed without exposing patients during the learning phase. The success was so great that the training expanded to other clinical departments.
Driven by the effectiveness of these models and the need for ethical, functional alternatives to human or animal ex vivo models, Dr. Chávez founded bySIMMED. Since then, we have been dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and distributing increasingly advanced, safe, and customizable simulation models.
